more jewelry and suicides

no! not me... i just got my copy of "the virgin suicides" today from amazon and i can't wait to start reading it. i didn't realize it was such a slim little book either. that's nice. only 250 pages, so it won't interfere with my reading of homer's "the odyssey." yes, i'm reading "the odyssey." i have a lot of time on my hands here. don't worry--it's a great translation and reads really well. and i actually really enjoy the story. i love "the iliad," too :)

anyway, more jewelry. so, i posted a necklace before that i said i made but it wasn't for me. well, the nice thing about working with elastic is how forgiving it is. i actually redid that necklace, too, and then made a pair of earrings to go with it. i think they will be a gift for someone. i like the necklace a lot more now. here is the set:

and a little closer on the earrings:

i have also made a little pendant for my youngest sister. she will be 15 at the beginning of march. she loves pink and girly things. i haven't made the rest of the necklace yet because i am waiting for an infusion of beading materials from lee. i requested some t-bar necklace clasps and some hematite-colored small beads to mix with the pink beads for the rest of nikki's necklace. but here's the pendant:

it keeps me busy! and i'm enjoying myself. in fact, a woman at work used to be a dressmaker. she's fixing the lining in an old coat of mine. and she asked for payment in either tea or jewelry that i make. i took that as a compliment because she liked my stuff :)
